What is “Follow Jesus”

This course is for Deaf B.S.L. users to become followers of Jesus by making the stories of the Bible real and relevant to everyday life through sign language.

The whole course can be used without using written English and can be led by Deaf members without the need of an minister or chaplain. It is for Deaf people to become more confident in discussing the stories of Jesus even if they have never been to Bible college.

The stories for this course are not exact translation of the Bible, but a telling of the stories in two different styles of signing. The Celtic Cross used to represent four questions to ask when discussing the Bible story can be used for any Bible story, not just the four that have been filmed here.

The aim of the course is to make the stories of Jesus make sense in our everyday lives, understand more of Jesus and become more like him.

the course

Each Bible story is introduced and signed by two different Deaf presenters.

The discussion guided by the four points of the Celtic Cross, talking about our relationship with God, ourselves, our community and the wider world.

An extra film with a story, testimony or drama maybe included to help explore the story further.

A summary is given to reinforce some of the discussions that may have taken place and help link these to everyday life.

At the end there is a short prayer and afterwards individuals are asked to identify action points that can put to use in their everyday life.
